OLDCODEX (オルドコデックス)successfully held their first large-scale one-man concert – OLDCODEX “Capture” 2015 in Budokan, on 11 Feb 2015. Up till then, they had been performing at live houses across Japan, with their recent 2014 album tour, “A Silent, within The Roar”, ending in October 2014 at Zepp Diver City, Tokyo. They are also active participants in many anisong concerts such as Animelo Summer Live 2013 and 2014, as well as Lantis Festival 2014.
Tickets to OLDCODEX “Capture” 2015 in Budokan were completely sold out, with restricted-view seats were added and sold from 3pm on the day of the concert. The concert goods were also in high demand when they went on sale one day before the concert, and were sold out quickly. Due to the suspicion that some buyers bought the concert goods in bulk only to put them up for resale later, each person was limited to a maximum of two pieces per item on the second day of concert goods sales.
Previously, Yorke would paint a mural as a backdrop for the stage, but this time, to accommodate this much larger venue, the Budokan stage backdrop was made of 20 over murals displayed as a collage. In addition, a total of four canvases (two large and two small ones) were prepared on stage for Yorke to do his live painting on. One of the four canvases had 6 mechanical limbs attached to it, and could be extended fully into six parts.
The band played a mix of songs from all their albums, including their recent anisong hits “Dried up Youthful Flame” and “Walk” and “Rage on”, to a very energetic audience, who were mostly female teens. Although most of the songs were of their usual punk rock style, a selection of slow songs was performed in the middle of the concert.
To the surprise and delight of many fans present at their Budokan concert, OLDCODEX announced that they would be going on a nationwide tour in Japan, starting with Tokyo on 30 Apr 2015. They would also be extending their tour to more prefectures like Okinawa, Ehime, and Toyama. The full line-up of dates and venues confirmed are provided below.
The audience was also treated to a screening of OLDCODEX’s new music video, “Eyes in chase”, which will be included in their upcoming 3rd mini album, “Pledge”. This new album will be released on 1 Apr 2015. More details can be found on their official website, with a 30 second preview of the “Eyes in chase” PV now available on the Lantis Youtube channel.

Who are OLDCODEX?
