With Winter WonFes 2015 now over and many collectors and anime fans still reeling from all the wallet hurting the event’s new figure announcements have induced, another figure event called the 39th Prize Fair took place over at Makuhari Messe last weekend, and it was held during the Japan Amusement Expo 2015, an event where arcade games and prizes took center stage.
While WonFes, or Wonder Festival, is more about the anime figures, plastic models, and garage kits, the Prize Fair focuses more on game prizes which you can win in various arcade games like Banpresto’s Crane King and Sega’s UFO Catcher crane game. The event not only featured prize figures, but new anime-themed plushies, shirts, and other merchandise you might see in crane games.
Let’s start things off with Banpresto which introduced a few of their Crane King prizes. Series like The iDOLM@STER, the Fate series, Sailor Moon, Madoka Magica, Yowamushi Pedal, Haikyuu!, Kamen Rider, One Piece, Dragon Ball, and others were all featured in their displays.
Sega on the other hand focused more on series such as Love Live!, Evangelion, Shingeki no Kyoujin (Attack on Titan), Sword Art Online, Free!, and Kantai Collection. And since this is Sega, it won’t be complete without some Hatsune Miku, right?
Like Sega, FuRyu also went with Love Live! and featured Rin Hoshizora in her now famous white dress. Cardcaptor Sakura, Super Sonico, Non Non Biyori, Knights of Sidonia (Sidonia no Kishi), Kantai Collection, and even upcoming anime, Food Wars: Shokugeki no Souma, were spotted in the FuRyu booth.
Looks like it will take a whole lot of skill, luck, patience, and coins to win these prizes.
The Prize Fair will then be taking its show on the road, visiting other Japanese cities. It hits Osaka on 16 February 2015 before heading to Fukuoka on 19 February, 2015. Its last stop will be in Sapporo, which will be on 23 February 2015.
