Formerly known as the Nico Nico Tokaigi, the now Tokaigi Game Party Japan 2015 took place at the Makuhari Messe from 31st of January to the 1st of February last weekend. A place where friends can meet offline, where we decide the best player of a game, where we experience new games, and where we can enjoy the retro titles. There is no one way to enjoy a game, everyone enjoys it in their own way. This festival of gaming is called the Toukaigi “闘会議”.
Spanning halls 4 to 7, I got a chance to experience Tokaigi for the first time this year as the first Japanese event in my calendar. Here are some of the exhibitors and play areas you can see in the event. The big names in the gaming industry including Nintendo, Sony and Square Enix were displaying some new and upcoming titles at the event. There are also areas where the crowds in attendance can go and play games such as Guilty Gear, Pokemon and Super Mario.
The event is not just about the current games of this generation. There’s also a section where we take some time to appreciate the older games that we enjoyed as a kid! Not only is there a retro gaming section, there’s a PlayStation history section detailing some of its biggest games throughout its lifetime!
And here are some of the cosplayers I really liked during the event! There were booth mascots from Monster Strike and other really good cosplays such as the Acguy, Snake and Super Sonico! Makes me wanna really cosplay soon! If you’re interested in the cosplayers, here are their Twitter handles:

Other events took place as well such as the Topanga Street Fighter IV tournament and Dempagumi.inc making an appearance at the LINE stage which unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to take. And that’s about it from here in Japan! I really enjoyed my very first Tokaigi and will definitely return again next year!
