SINGTEL TV WELCOMES ITS FIRST JAPANESE ENTERTAINMENT CHANNEL

HELLO! JAPAN will offer exciting Japanese content to Singtel TV viewers

Singapore, 28 January 2015 – HELLO! JAPAN will be launching on Singtel, making it the first and only 24-hour HD Japanese commercial entertainment channel for Singtel TV viewers. The channel is set to air from 30 January 2015, on Singtel TV channel 261.

HELLO! JAPAN will be available in the Family+ Pack, alongside other lifestyle channels that Singtel TV carries. The channel aims to engage viewers with high quality and top-notch content, offering a variety of compelling Japanese entertainment ranging from movies and variety shows, to music programmes and anime. Significant achievements Since HELLO! JAPAN’s inception in February 2013, some of the channel’s key achievements include:

  • HELLO! JAPAN’s first ever live show: HELLO! TOKYO – The first of its kind, this lifestyle programme aimed to connect with viewers at home by bringing them to some of Tokyo’s most popular districts like Harajuku, Akihabara and Asakusa. The programme was recorded live and presented an interactive format between studios in Singapore and Tokyo. It also featured celebrity blogger Danny Choo as one of the guests on the show.
  • Co-produced and commissioned exclusive Japanese programmes that target a local audience. Welcome Nippon; Pure Japan, Enjoy Fukushima – travelogues about Japan, from its age old traditional arts, crafts, food, culture to its modern day quirks, within the different areas of Japan.
  • Concurrent telecasts – bringing audiences the newest and latest Japanese content with simulcast, or within the same week/season:
    • Detective Opera Milky Holmes TD – Every Saturday, 9pm. Simulcast same day and time as Japan!
Detective Opera Milky Holmes TD is set in Yokohama District, where many stolen song cases have been happening among the idols.
    • Love Live! School Idol Project (2nd Season) – Voted as the most anticipated anime title of 2014 in Southeast Asia, the programme premiered exclusively on HELLO! JAPAN in April last year with the same week telecast as Japan.
    • The Easygoing Police – Same season telecast as Japan, this drama stars Emi Takei and Takashiro of popular boy band EXILE, and is based on “The Easygoing Police” written by Kei Nitadori published by Kawade Shobo Shinsha Ltd Publishers.
  • Top-rated programmes:
    • Oshin – Mondays to Fridays at 7pm
Brought back to TV viewers on HELLO! JAPAN more than 30 years after this classic drama series took Singapore by storm, this programme generated widespread interest in Japan (and around the world) as it brought into focus various issues that Japan faces, such as parent-child relationships, marital relationships, the role of family and the meaning of life at old age.
    • Love Hokkaido – First and Exclusive in Asia, Every Saturday at 7.30pm
Asia’s most current information update on Hokkaido! Airing on HELLO! JAPAN even before Japan’s broadcast, Love Hokkaido is a travel and discovery programme whereby the hosts explore Hokkaido’s delicious food, its thriving natural resources and quirky attractions. Singaporeans can catch it before the rest of the world does!
    • Jin
A brain surgeon, Jin Minakata is hurtled back in time to the Edo period and finds himself having to save lives without the luxury of modern medical equipment or medicine. This drama won multiple accolades at the 63rd Television Drama Academy Awards and Tokyo Drama Awards.
    • Music Station
One of the most reputable and esteemed prime-time live music performances in Japan was aired exclusively on HELLO! JAPAN, very soon after its original telecast in Japan.

As the region’s greatest purveyor of Japanese culture, HELLO! JAPAN has also been actively participating in a number of events and contests including the annual Anime Festival Asia, NATAS Travel Fair 2014, and Gourmet Japan. Also, HELLO! JAPAN was the official TV channel for gigs such as the renowned Kabuki performance JAPAN THEATER, Alice Nine Concert, and the most recent Doraemon Stand by Me movie.
