Having acquired business tickets, I decided to go to Tokyo Game Show over the course of the first two business days. It was an incredible experience.  Sony, Microsoft, Bandai, Capcom, Square Enix and many other major developers in the game industry were present at the convention.

Toyko Game Show is held at Makuhari Messe every year. It is located in the Chiba prefecture. To get there, go to Akihabara Station and then take the Sobu line to Makuhari station. Depending on whether you take the local or rapid line, you might need to change trains once.

Upon reaching Makuhari station, take a bus to Kaihin Makuhari station and then its a 5 minute walk.

Arrival at Makuhari!

Event Hall in sight.

And we’re here!

With all the developers present, it was quite hectic running all over the place. I however did manage to talk to some of the devs for Titan Fall and played quite a few games.

Huge line up for Grand Theft Auto V. It’s to be expected I suppose.
Note: GTA V is set for release in Japan only on the 10th of October, so they can’t just buy it yet.

SONY Playstation

I’d say Sony had the largest booth at the game show followed by Gree and Microsoft.

The new PS Vita series 2000, set to be released in Singapore this October. Available in many designs and colours.

And here we have it! The Playstation 4. It was glowing from afar, beckoning to me; telling me to come closer. I complied.

Just lingering nearby, we have the much talked about PS Vita TV.

Sony also showcased the new Hatsune Miku x Experia Phone.

Yaoi fans, keep an eye out!

The TCA booth. The staff here was really helpful!

God Eater fans rejoice!

A wild bunny appears! Wat do?!
Run? Cuddle? Smother?

Next we drop by the Microsoft and XBox booth.

I am incredibly excited for Battlefield 4. Are you?

You a fan of Fifa? I personally suck at the game. Perhaps football skills will fare thee better.

Titan Fall’s displays were quite good. The devs were friendly and nice but dodged most questions regarding the game and its future prospects.
The titan shown here moved around every now and then!

Titan Fall dev playing a bit of Crimson Dragon.

XBox One. On your buy list?

Singapore Indie Booth!

Yes Singaporean indie studios are also invited to the Tokyo Game Show.

Others

Beautiful Itasha followed by a beautiful Itachari promoting the upcoming 2nd season of the anime Infinite Stratos 2, and it’s appearance in the new Trading Card Game from Bushiroad, Fiveqross!

Editor note: Would you like to give Laura a spin? Infinite Stratos 2, coming soon this fall~

You a fan of Ghost in the Shell?

And with that Tokyo Game Show 2013 Business Days 1 and 2 ended with the customary goodbye bow or wave or parade of the all the booth attendants from the major booths!

Sense of Wonder Night 2013

However, there was still the Sense of Wonder Night Indie Game Award Ceremony to look forward to.

The judges and the audience observed several Indie games and awarded prizes to the best entries.
This year featured participants from Japan, Taiwan, North America, Switzerland and many more!

Tsuri- A game about fishing. The point of the game is to not play it.
Confused? So was I. But apparently after launching the game, you need to exit it and resist the urge to go back in. The longer you wait, the bigger the fish you catch!

Kyoto – A game based on the developer’s experiences in Kyoto. It’s a beautiful project.

Mirage – A game where you start off as a top hat and live for one purpose ; To eat pop corn.

There were many more wonderful entries, each giving the other a run for their money.
Finally, the scores were decided and the award ceremony began!

And here we have all the participants.

And that wraps up coverage for TGS 2013. It was a wonderful experience! We hope you had fun too!
Be sure to join us next year!
