It has just been revealed that the live-action movie version of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s manga about making mangas, Bakuman, will be making its Japanese premiere this 3 October 2015.
The 3 October release date was announced along with the reveal of the movie’s poster which features actors Takeru Satoh (Rurouni Kenshin’s Kenshin Himura) as Moritaka Mashiro and Ryunosuke Kamiki (Rurouni Kenshin’s Soujirou Seta) as Akito Takagi, with their manga counterparts
The posters will be distributed around Japanese theaters starting 18 April. The film will also star Shota Sometani (Parasyte’s Shinichi Izumi) as the rival mangaka, Eiji Nizuma.
Meanwhile, model and actress, Nana Komatsu (not the character from Nana), is playing the role of Miho Azuki, the love interest of Takeru Satoh’s character, Mashiro. Komatsu recently won “Best New Artist” for her role as Kanako Fujishima in “The World of Kanako“.
Veteran actor and scriptwriter, Kankuro Kudou, will play Moritaka Mashiro’s uncle, Nobuhiro Mashiro, a struggling mangaka with the pen name, Taro Kawaguchi.
Takayuki Yamada, who played Masamitsu Shigeta in the live-action GANTZ movies, will be playing manga magazine editor, Akira Hattori
Bakuman is also known for having great manga battles with rival mangakas like Kenta Kiritani, who is played by Shinta Fukuda. Other rivals also include Kazuya Hiramaru, who will be played by Hirofumi Arai and Takuro Nakai, who will be played by Sarutoki Minagawa.
