Kyoto Animation has most certainly given it’s fans a pleasant Valentine’s Day surprise! It’s official website released a new Kyoukai No Kanata Mirai-Hen key visual and trailer, which also features the theme song “Aitakatta Sora” sung by Minori Chihara, the voice behind Mitsuki Nase. Mirai-Hen is the second part of the film series that depicts events which happened a year after the first film.
Kyoukai No Kanata (Beyond the Boundary) is based on a light novel series by Nagomu Torii, which revolves around on both protagonists Mirai Kuriyama and Akihito Kanbara. Mirai is a klutzy girl who is a Spirit Warrior and the last surviving member of her clan who tasked with the killing of hostile youmu, supernatural materialisations of negative human emotions that disturb the balance from time to time. While Akihito is an immortal half-youmu who Mirai uses as target practice to help her gain courage in slaying other malicious youmu. Both are terribly lonely souls as a result of their unfortunate yet immense power, and develop a special bond from their dysfunctional partnership.
The first part of the film series, Kako-Hen (過去篇, the Past) is slated for release on 14 March 2015 and the second half Mirai-Hen (未来篇, the Future) on 25 April 2015 in Japan. Fans catching the movie will be entitled to a free movie poster and other goodies that feature the key characters of the anime. Hopefully the movies will also be available soon at our local theaters!
