Last year, we reported about Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma finding their leading guy for Soma. This time, we’re back with more news – four new cast members have been announced, complete with an all-new promotional image for the series!
The new additions to the cast are:
- Maaya Uchida (Hiyori Iki from Noragami) as Yuki Yoshino
- Ai Kayano (Shiro from No Game, No Life) as Ryoko Sakaki
- Taishi Murata (Eiichirou Maruo from Baby Steps) as Shun Ibusaki
- Yusuke Kobayashi (Su Won from Yona of the Dawn) as Zenji Marui
Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma follows the story of Soma Yukihira, a boy who dreams to one day surpass his father in cooking and become a chef at his restaurant. However, his father closes down the shop one day and enrols Soma into Toutsuki Culinary Academy, the country’s top culinary school with a mere 10% graduation rate. The manga, written by Yuuto Tsukuda with art by Shun Saeki, has been running strong in Weekly Shounen Jump magazine since 2012.
The previously-announced lineup includes:
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Soma Yukihira
- Risa Taneda as Erina Nakiri
- Minami Takahashi as Megumi Tadokoro
- Shizuka Ishigami as Ikumi Mito
- Yuuki Ono as Isami Aldini
- Natsuki Hanae as Takumi Aldini
- Saori Onishi as Hisako Arato
- Takahiro Sakurai as Satoshi Isshiki
Some of you might probably remember Matsuoka from when he came to Singapore last year for Anime Festival Asia. As the voice of Kirito from Sword Art Online, he was invited as a special guest for the Sword Art Online main stage segment.
The anime adaptation of Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma, animated by J.C Staff, is slated to go on air in April 2015. I’m definitely looking forward to the stellar seiyuu cast and glorious action-packed cooking showdowns. Feeling excited yet?
