Polygon Pictures has announced that Knights of Sidonia will be made available on Singapore Airline‘s (SIA) in-flight entertainment system, Kris World. Kris World provides in-flight entertainment such as music, dramas and music to the 30 countries and more than 60 cities that SIA flies to.
All 12 episodes of the first season of the popular and critically acclaimed anime series will be presented with its original Japanese audio and English subtitles. SIA is the first airline to screen Knights of Sidonia and the series will also screen exclusively on SIA for four months from the 1st Mar to the 31st June.
This is considered quite a feat for not just Knights of Sidonia but also for anime as a whole. It’s rare for all episodes of a Japanese animation to be made available during the same screening period on an airlines in-flight entertainment system.
Getting screened on SIA’s Kris World also bodes well for Knights of Sidonia’s future. The anime is a late-night anime in Japan and late-night anime is usually viewed by mostly hardcore anime fans outside of Japan. By getting a screening on SIA, the anime has the opportunity to also reach out to more general and casual audience of anime, thereby gaining more exposure as a result.
