The new second season of “PSYCHO-PASS” just began broadcasting on 09 Oct 2014. To commemorate the occasion, the official “PSYCHO-PASS” website also released a 15-second teaser with visual, story information, information on the production staff and screening information in 2015. The website timed the release to coincide with the broadcast of the new episode in Japan.
The film is scheduled to premier in 100 theatres nation-wide in Japan, which is quite an achievement, since it is rare for a film based on a late night anime to receive such a large theatrical run.
Significant staff announcements include the return of Katsuyuki Motohiro as the Chief Director. Motohiro was also the Chief Director for season one. Urobuchi Gen, who also wrote the story for season one, will return to co-write the film with Makoto Fukami. Fukami also collaborated with Urobuchi on the screenplay for several episodes in season one and is also the author of the light novel version of the hit anime series. Naoyoshi Shiotani who directed both seasons of the anime will also direct the new film. Naoyuki Onda, of “Berserk: The Golden Age Arc” fame, will take charge of character design and will also serve as the Chief Animation Director. Production I.G., who animated season one, also returns as the animation studio for the film.
The new visuals revealed by the website shows a visibly stronger and more determined Akane Tsunemori. Given that the new film is set four years after the events of the first season, that seems like a very logical development for this character.
The PSYCHO-PASS website also revealed more about the story for the new film.
In 2112, rookie inspector Akane Tsunemori and Shinya Kogami, an Enforcer, encounter a man who was the mastermind of a series of events that happened in the past. Kogami, who had a previous run in with him, is seeking revenge on this man. This man rocked the foundations of the system and question the existence of justice in the society they live in. Eventually, Kogami manages to exact his form of justice on him and disappears from the world.
In 2116, the Japanese government begins to export the Sibyl System and unmanned robotic drones to countries in conflict in an effort to spread the use of the system throughout the world. SEAUn (South East Asia Union / Shian), one of the countries in the state of a civil war, introduced the Sibyl System into their country as an experiment. For the moment, the system managed to obtain peace in the floating city of Shambala Float but terrorists are sent to Japan from SEAUn. These terrorists managed to slip pass the Sibyl System to launch an attack on the nucleus of Japan. The shadow of a certain man has been cast on this incident. Tsunemori, the head of Unit One of the Criminal Investigation Division, travels to Shambala Float to investigate. The truth of justice will be revealed on this new ground
