Japan has a tendency to turn historical figures either into genderbent bishoujo or ikemen. For the artistic new mobile game, Palette Parade, they are doing the latter for historical painters. Developed by Silicon Studio, the game will feature several historic painters. However, they are not limiting them to Western Renaissance men, but also famous historical Japanese artists.
The game’s historical artists include a surprisingly non-emo Vincent Van Gogh, who the game describes as “energetic”. He also wants everyone to smile. It seems like his works, which scream his inner pain, aren’t enough to dampen his mood.
The other artists include:
Gustave Courbet
Leonardo da Vinci
Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Michelangelo
Raphael
El Greco
Claude Monet
Édouard Manet
Edvard Munch
Peter Paul Rubens
Katsushika Hokusai (legendary Ukiyo-e artist)
Utagawa Hiroshige (legendary Ukiyo-e artist)
Looks like we’re missing Donatello to complete the Ninja Turtles, right?! However, he’s more of a sculptor than a painter, as opposed to the other three Renaissance men. Silicon Studio will be releasing Palette Parade for smartphones, as well as PC, by summer 2018.
