Love Stage!! is getting their own anime series slated to debut in July 2014, with Tsubasa Yonaga and Takuya Eguchi in the leading roles!
Izumi Sena & Ryouma Ichijou
Hopeless otaku Izumi Sena (CV: Tsubasa Yonaga) comes from an illustrious family of entertainers, but prefers to spend his time obsessing over favourite series “Magical Girl Lalalulu” and dreams of becoming a mangaka (manga artist) – despite having absolutely no artistic talent. Izumi’s dreams of a quiet life comes crashing down when he receives an invitation to film a sequel to the commercial he was in as a child, with the original boy he was casted with.
Problem is, no one knew Izumi was male, since he was a last minute replacement for the girl originally casted. In a twist of fate, the little boy then is now wildly successful idol Ryouma Ichijou (CV: Takuya Eguchi) After outright bribery from doting brother Shougo (who’s the vocalist for rock band CRUSHERZ), Izumi reluctantly agrees to join the shoot in drag, and Ryouma and Izumi both meet once more, after ten years…

A collaborative effort between writer Eiki Eiki (series conceptualizer) and manga illustrator Zaou Taishi, Love Stage is a light-hearted comedy serialised in Kadokawa’s CIEL magazine. Eiki Eiki’s notorious for being the elder sister of vocalist DAIGO from BREAKERZ, and it’s pretty much an open secret that Shougo is loosely based off her own brother. In fact, Zaou Taishi has spoke about asking Eiki Eiki for pictures to base her character designs on. If you’ve read the manga, the terrible drawings from Izumi were actually deliberately drawn by Eiki Eiki using her left hand. Eiki Eiki has admitted to not being very proficient at drawing, for which we’re glad she’s working with good friend Zaou Taishi. And with her own love for manga and anime, makes you wonder who Izumi is based off?

The opening theme will be by SCREEN mode, formed by sound producer Masatomo (Masatomo Oota) and vocalist YOU (seiyuu Yuu Hayashi).
