For years, Sony’s PlayStation 3, or PS3 for short, has undoubtedly become part of many people’s lives. However, it seems like it’s the end of the line for the memorable console. In their official Japanese PlayStation website, Sony revealed that they are now halting production on PS3’s 500 gigabyte standard model.
The website listed the model’s production as “Ended”. The 500 gigabyte standard model previously became the only PlayStation 3 model Sony is producing in Japan. This announcement truly marks the end of an era of gaming, as a whole generation grew up playing the PS3.
With the PlayStation 4 and other newer generation consoles now taking over the market, it was only a matter of time until Sony pulled the plug on this beloved console. With a heavy heart, we must say goodbye to the PlayStation 3.
I think I’ll just turn on my own PS3 console and play a few games later as tribute. Thank you for the memories, old friend!
