Subaru has collaborated with the makers of the live action movie, Shingeki no Kyojin (set to release next year), to produce a commercial for the ‘Subaru Forester’, and it is set to premier during this evening’s airing of the Kinyōbi Road Show! (Friday Road Show!).
The director of the film, 48-year-old Shinji Higuchi, worked on the commercial as well.
Played by stunt people and later enhanced with computer visual effects, the commercial will feature a total of three Titans, including a female Titan, whose make up took as long as four hours to put on. It also features the upper body of a colossal Titan which is two metres tall and required seven people to operate.
Costing several tens of millions of yen, the commercial shows off the amazing handling of the Forester as it “skillfully dodges” the oncoming Titans. A segment of the commerical was aired on NTV’s morning televeision program Zip!.
Although the staff have not decided whether the Titans featured in the upcoming film will appear as they do in the commercial, Higuchi was grateful for this “welcome opportunity” of what is to come.
The movie is based off the manga series of the same name by Isayama Hajime.
