Hey, over here LiSA fans! The singer made an announcement at her first solo live show at Tokyo’s Nippon Budōkan arena on Friday 03 January 2014, that she will be performing the opening for the anime adaptation of Tsutomu Satou’s Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei (The Irregular at Magic High school). She also announced that a countrywide tour would take place sometime in June-July this year as well.

LiSA has done songs as part of the in-anime band “Girls Dead Monster” in the Angel Beats! anime series. She has done work for Fate/Zero, with the opening song “oath sign” (a pleasant song to jam to I must add), and “crossing field” for Sword Art Online. Personally if you ask me, her work so far with opening songs has been nothing short of stellar. Her album works have also been really good (a few misses here and there, but that’s just personal taste), so knowing that she will grace us with an opening for another anime is simply music to the ears. And the tour? Splendid. Time to book them airplane tickets!

Now, more about the anime (and enough about the manga to get you interested enough to investigate, if you want to): The series takes place in a world where magic is possible (as usual for fantasy settings) and has been put to use in rather… interesting ways. Devices called CADs (Casting Assistant Devices) allow users to channel their thoughts, into them (they are known as psions, matter borne of thought and pretty much psychic stuff) so that magic and spells can occur. As they put it, an idea, or Eidos as they call it in the series, is the supplied information to catalysts such as the CADs, which in turn translate that same information into a corporeal form of magic, real enough to effect a change in the real world.

And here comes two sibilings, Tatsuya Shiba and his sister, Miyuki, who enroll in the Private Magic University Affiliated High School (seriously what a mouthful! It’s called Magic High School for short. But if it were up to me? Magic High will do). In this school the stellar students and the average are segregated, and known as “Blooms” and “Weeds” respectively.

While the sister does well overall for her entrance exams and is sent to the Course 1 Curriculum, the brother tops the theory-based section of the exam while doing terribly for the practical exam (hmm… *raise eyebrows*) and is sent into Course 2. Sounds like a typical case of scrubs being scrubs right? Well, not exactly, because this young man here has an uncanny ability to read activation sequences (of spells I suppose), and the powers that be are watching him.

Opinion: Read some sauce saying there’s… something much deeper than sibling love? (what in the world is this *deleted expletives*!? this is totes awesome!) Time to investigate… now WHERE’S THE MANGA!?

Oh and by the way, the anime series will premier in April in Japan, so you still have time to do some catch up with the manga or light novel, if you haven’t already started. Off you go!
