It was previously reported that the sequels to the live-action movie “Rurouni Kenshin” would open in Summer 2014. Recently, specific opening dates were announced. “Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen” (“Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Tokyo Fire”) will premiere in Japan on 1 August 2014, while “Rurouni Kenshin: Densetsu no Saigo-hen” (“Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend”) will open on 13 September 2014.
More character photos were also released. Among them are images of main antagonist Makoto Shishio (Tatsuya Fujiwara) and the group elite warriors that are loyal to him, known as the Juppongatana (Ten Swords). Shishio, like Kenshin, was a former assassin. He was badly burned after his allies betrayed him and attempted to kill him.

Other new characters that were revealed are Shishio’s follower and lover, Yumi Komagata (Maryjun Takahashi), and government officials Toshimichi Okubo (Kazufumi Miyazawa) and Hirobumi Itou (Yukiyoshi Ozawa).
There are also new images of characters returning from the first movie:
Kaoru Kamiya (Emi Takei) and Sanosuke Sagara (Munetaka Aoki)
Megumi Takani (Yuu Aoi) and Hajime Saito (Yosuke Eguchi)
Yahiko Myojin (Kaito Oyagi). Kaito Oyagi replaces Taketo Tanaka from the first movie.
