Here it is! A pre-broadcast event debuted promotional video of Saki Zenkoku-hen, the television anime for the National Tournament arc was put up on Sunday 22 December 2013. See it below:
Returning from the first two Saki TV anime series are the director himself Manabu Ono, assistant director Kenji Seto, head scriptwriter Tatsuhiko Urahata, and character designer/chief animation director Masakatsu Sasaki, along with the original voice talents. Studio Gokumi is animating this time just as it did for Saki Episode of Side A.
A little background for those who want to know: Saki Miyanaga, a high schooler, lives with a family that would always force her to play, and would punish her regardless of the outcome of the game, and she hated the game for that. Eventually, she learned how to keep her score at zero, neither winning nor losing (anyone who plays mahjong will tell you that this is some leet trolling hax, AKA very hard to pull off), and her friend from middle school points her to the high school’s small mahjong club upon enrollment, without knowing that she was that good. Once the club discovers her ability to play, they made her a member, and get her to try to win instead of staying with zero score all the time. Of course, this is is a piece of cake for her. Then the usual happens – make friends with people in there, start to love the game, has a close friend who also happens to be a newbie like her (Nodoka Haramura), and aiming for national tournaments and such.
And finally, the show will premier in January.
