The light novel Mitsuwano is getting an anime adaptation in March 2014 thanks to King Records, who did the reveal this Wednesday 18 December 2013. They also streamed a promotional video of the show, which you can view it below.
Written by Itsuki Matsumoto, the light novel’s story focuses on a group of girls in Kyoto whose ambitions are to become apprentice geisha, or maiko. Given such a setting and the fact that it is based off a light novel (not saying that light novels are always so short), one can foresee how much content they might be able to squeeze into the anime. Here’s to hoping it will all fit in nicely and not be a rushed job (we want to watch “Mitsuwano“, not “A Brief Summary of Mitsuwano – Screenshot Edition“)
Here are the voice talent we know of so far:
Yui Horie as Mai Ichinose
Rina Satou as Midori Aikawa
Nozomi Sasaki as Riko Kikuzuki
Yumi Hara as Kazuha
Sayaka Ohara as Shino
Also, we heard that Yui Horie is performing the opening song, called ”Kono Basho de” (At This Place).
Publishing the light novel in their BOX-AiR e-magazine are Kodansha and Starchild Records. These two companies launched the “Kodansha BOX-AiR Rookie of the Year Award” in 2011, and Mitsuwano won the 2012 award.
Announcing the winner of the 2013 award on Wednesday, they also revealed that Mitsuwano would be getting an anime adaptation, and they will also publish a print novel of Mitsuwano on 3 March 2014.
The anime will ship on DVD and Blu-ray on 12 March 2014. The Blu-ray Disc will retail for 4,725-yen (US$45.25) and the DVD will retail for 3,675-yen (US$35.20). They will all include a CD and a 16-page booklet, and first copies will include a lottery ticket for a special event.
